The first Chetnik Congress was held on 31 May 1952 in South Chicago. At this congress, the “Organisation of Serbian Chetniks in the Free World” was declared and Vojvoda Momčilo Đujić was elected president.

Following a turbulent Congress in 1957, organisational differences resulted in two camps – that of Vojvoda Momčilo Đujić and Vojvoda Dobrosav Jevđević. Regardless of their differences, both groups were fiercely anti-communist.
